Safeguarding Statement

Supernova Science is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all children and young people using our platform, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) 2024.

All open-text fields visible to students are monitored by an automated keyword filter. Content matching safeguarding concern patterns is flagged to the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) via the teacher dashboard — never to other students.

Written answer submissions, hint request inputs, and NovaScan extracted text are screened for indicators of self-harm, abuse, bullying, mental health distress, and exploitation.

The DSL-designated teacher receives an in-app alert within minutes. Raw flagged text is stored securely for DSL review only — it is not visible to other teachers. External referral decisions remain with the school.

High-severity alerts present students with a direct link to Childline (childline.org.uk) before submission — no referral is made without student awareness.
